Purpose

Welcome to the Historical Online Learning Foundation (HOLF) War College. This Web Site provides the basic references and introductory instruction for the various modules of Civil War On-Line (CWOL) and Napoleonic Wars OnLine (NWOL).

The War College provides references for study of the ACW era as well as conducts the basic instruction for the War Between the States (WBTS) game engine used to drive CWOL.

The War College lessons for the modules of NWOL are under development but references are listed at the NWOL links that provides information that is used in the development of NWOL as well as the link to the NWOL Academy at St Cyr.

Features

The Historical Online Learning Foundation's War College offers generic instruction in the areas of strategy and tactics, economic policy as well as entry training for the WBTS game engine used in the CWOL simulation plus the NWOL family of software (GITM, PATE, SOW). The War College is organized into three subordinate schools and two initial entry Academies.

Utilization of the War College

For CWOL, the Secretary of War (SecWar) and Secretary of Navy (SecNav)of each national government have the primary responsibility to coordinate the use of War College materials. The Secretary designates a Inspector General who organizes the study group(s) for the level of instruction desired and contacts the War College Commandant for any additional support required. Both sides are encouraged to maintain a regular series of communications as the War College curriculum is ever evolving and new features may be available.
